Coin Information:
The 20 pence was introduced into circulation in June 1982. It was issued to try and reduce the weight of coinage by decreasing the amount of 10p coins in use. It was given the same curved heptagonal shape as the 50p but is a lot smaller. Its equilateral shape makes it very suitable for vending machines.
The reverse design of The Royal Badge of England was designed by William Gardiner. It features a royally crowned double rose in between the dated year.
