Why won't my account let me use the swap centre?

Have you registered with Change Checker in the past two weeks?

Yes - When you first start using the Swap Centre, for security reasons you will find that your account is temporarily restricted to a certain number of Swap Requests which you can make or receive in one day. As you begin to use the Swap Centre more frequently you will find this restriction eased.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused but this is one of our safety precautions we put in place to prevent against fraudulent users.

No - please contact us directly confirming your username and email address and our IT department will look into this for you

I have sent a coin to a swapper but not received one in return

We're sorry to hear your swap has not been successful. Please contact us directly confirming the swapper's username and as many details as possible; such as proof of postage, dates and email correspondence.

We intend Change Checker to be a fun site for all to use and we won't stand for people abusing it in this way and spoiling it for everyone else. As we do not police the site we have a list of safe swap rules that we insist users follow - see the Safe Swapping Rules here.

Failure to abide by the Safe Swapping Rules can result in access being barred from the Swap functionality of changechecker.org.

We hope this incident has not deterred you from using the swap centre and apologies for the inconvenience this user has caused. Please do let us know if you come across any other users abusing the site. [Back to top]

I have received an envelope with no coin in it

We're sorry to hear your swap has not been successful. It sounds like the coin has either fallen out during despatch or it has been taken. We suggest that you contact the swapper to let them know what has happened and see if you can come to an agreement. You should also contact the postage service used to see if you or the swapper can claim back using the proof of postage.

As we do not police the site we insist that all swappers should 'Safely and securely wrap your coin(s) and obtain proof of posting from the Post Office when sending off your coin(s).' Full Safe Swap rules can be found here.

I believe somebody is acting fraudulently

We take allegations of fraudulent activity very seriously and we will not tolerate users abusing the site. We intend Change Checker to be a fun site for all to use so if you have any concerns that a user is acting fraudulently or not abiding by the safe swap rules, please contact us directly confirming the swapper's username and as much detail as possible so we can ban the user from accessing the site.

We insist all users of the Change Checker Swap Centre to abide by the Safe Swap rules which can be found here.

Where can I download your App?

Although we don't actually have an app that you can download from the app store, our site is mobile ready so the web page you open will display like an app. You can also add the web app to your homepage so you can access Change Checker quickly and easily. [Back to top]

I cannot log in to my account

If you have forgotten your username or password you can request to reset your login details. You will be prompted to enter the email address registered to your account which is where the email to reset your details will be sent. Please also check the junk/ spam inbox on your email account.

If you are still unable to access your account once you have tried the above, please contact us directly confirming your username, email address and a short summary of problems you are encountering. Screen shots are also very helpful and will allow us to find a solution to the problem much quicker. [Back to top]

How do I change my email address?

I think I have found an error on my coin

If you think you may have found a mistake on your coin you should first evaluate whether it is a mis-strike or a genuine error.

The striking process is never fully exempt from human error and sometimes a coin can become mis-aligned during the striking process or debris/dirt blocking dies can have an effect on the coin making it a mis-strike. Whilst such mis-strikes are relatively unusual and can be numismatically interesting, these variances in a small number of coins are due to the sheer volumes of coins being struck at one time.

Genuine errors on the other hand, such as the undated 20p and 'silver' 2p are extremely rare.

If you think you've found a genuine error, please email a photograph of the coin with a short description of what you believe to be the error and we will happily take a look at it for you. [Back to top]

How much is my coin worth?

It is hard to accurately value a coin as it is dependent on the condition and whether or not a collector needs it for their collection. The Change Checker Web App and blog gives you some background information and the mintage figures for the coin to give you a better understanding. You may also find the Scarcity Index helpful in determining how much your coin may be worth. Remember, generally speaking, the rarer the coin the more it is worth. [Back to top]

Can I sell you my coins?

Yes, we sometimes buy coins through our  Seller's Portal on The Westminster Collection site. To see which coins we are currently buying  click here.

How rare is my coin?

You can find out the rarity of your coin by having a look at our Scarcity Indexes. You can also check the mintage figure for every UK commemorative coin to see how many there are in circulation here. [Back to top]
